Description
Oriana Energy Solar PV Park (“ORIANA”) is a 45-megawatt AC (57.6 MWp) solar-power plant in Isabela, developed, constructed, and operated in partnership with Sonnedix Group. It is the largest of its kind in Puerto Rico. The system consists of over 180,000 polycrystalline solar panels, grouped in ground-mounted fixed-tilt arrays on 200 “cuerdas” (1 cuerda = 0.97 acres). It is provided with Schneider Electric inverters and a 24,000 kW Battery Energy Storage System. With an investment upwards of USD $160 million, the construction of this renewable energy facility created more than 1,100 direct jobs during construction, mostly residents of Isabela and nearby communities. Oriana was interconnected to the Utility’s grid and started producing clean energy in December 2016. It covers the power demand of more than 12,000 homes, displaces 95,000 tons of carbon-dioxide emissions each year, and generates more than 100,000 megawatt-hours of clean, green electricity each year.
